WHO WE ARE

Scottish entrepreneur Brian Donaldson has provided business and supply chain development to the energy, infrastructure, and construction industries for more than 30 years. His engineering, technical, and commercial expertise combines with in-depth local knowledge and understanding of the wider global and export markets.

SupplyChainScotland, founded in 2024, evolved out of numerous conversations with investors, project teams, and supply chain businesses in Scotland in recent years. Everyone understands the enormous potential presented by renewable energy and emerging technologies, but local capacity is still evolving and technology gaps remain in areas like floating wind. While there are many associations and networks for the industry to convene, the industry wanted to see a commercial service that could deliver an end-to-end supply chain tailored to each project as well as proactively identifying and solving gaps.

Brian and the team work in parallel with SupplyChainWales, which offers a similar service to the Welsh supply chain and investors entering the renewables market there.

SupplyChainScotland is not a networking platform for the energy industry – many of those exist already. Instead, we are offering commercial packages with hard targets set against them for business and supply chain development.

  • We offer a curated supply chain to investors looking for advance sight of local capability.
  • To more advanced energy and infrastructure projects, we can provide one coherent, accredited supply chain that covers their entire project lifecycle.
  • And, to suppliers, we offer a way of working collaboratively with other suppliers in the chain to overcome barriers and win contracts that would normally be out-of-reach.

Our solutions are not limited to traditional matching of supply to demand – in a market that is still evolving, there is also often a need to bring in Scotland’s academic and innovation centres, seek governmental funding for capacity-building, and help with skills-matching and recruitment, too.

Bridging skills gaps with NEO Talent

The NEO Talent partnership brings together the SupplyChainScotland team with the Nudge Talent Lab and Evami to prepare some of the most promising talent on the Scottish market for careers in the renewables and related sectors.

Customers of SupplyChainScotland – whether on the developer or supplier side – will have access to the AI-supported Nudge network, which is already recruiting for companies like Ocean Winds, ScottishPower Renewables, Magnora Offshore Wind Farm, and Moray West Offshore Wind Farm.

“We are not working in an environment where you can take a supply chain management approach. To succeed in the renewables and emerging technology spaces, you have to take an exploratory approach. This is about building the supply chain ecosystem as we go – there is simply no time to wait for it to somehow evolve. Suppliers need to move fast to secure future export markets for technologies like floating wind, and in a constrained market, developers need to be much more proactive and imaginative.”
